I must admit that the Mark Millar & Bryan Hitch run on The Ultimates is what got me into the Avengers.
I've been a comic reader since at least the age of 7 and as much as I wanted to get into the Avengers they always seemed to be as accessible together as they were separately.
It wasn't until the Ultimates came around and I got a fresh start without all of the baggage of continuity that I could really get into them and carry that accessibility on to the other incarnations of the team.
