Hello Fellow Deviants,

Just a little reminder of sorts...
Most people who practice their coloring skills on my lines have been gracious enough to ask if it's okay to use my lines beforehand or they let me know that they've practiced their skills using my work and all I ask is that you give credit where credit is due, don't misuse my work and of course I like to see your work after it's done... but then there are those who don't do any of those things and I end up getting notes and emails from people who spot it.

Like this guy who added a background to my Batman Beyond marker piece and made no mention that the original piece was done by me.

And it seems I'm not the only one.

and even one from Justice by Doug Braithwaite and Alex Ross > :thumb192520837:

I'm just posting this journal as a reminder to ask or at least give credit where credit is due and please don't misuse a person's artwork cause someone if not multiple people might spot it.

I love the fact that he defends himself as if he's done nothing wrong, what a douche!

If I ever get my arse in gear and color that one picture of yours that I printed out, you'll get credit. I just need to get over this serious case of apathy/laziness that has gripped me for so long.

And... that's the Pogues on that Subaru commercial!!

Sorry. Sort of distracted there for a sec...

Unbelievable, are they trying to pass it off as there own artwork or just don't understand the concept of giving credit?

Usually I send a note with a link and in the artists comments I provide a link to the original picture and the artists icon and link to their front page. I also usually encourage people to take a look through the gallery too. I figure if I enjoyed it enough to want to colour someone's work that someone else may enjoy a flip through the gallery too. I also would comply if I were to be asked to take something down. But I'd never not credit at the very minimum.

I make it a point to ask before i ever start to color, no matter who the person is. One reason being that I want them to know that someone is wanting to color their stuff, which i would like to think is nice thing to hear. Until I have their permission to do anything with their art, it never gets touched. Simple as that.

Ah, that sucks man. You know I would ask you beforehand and give you credit. It's not right to do that to fellow artists. I hope you did something about this to the person that messed up your work and didn't give you credit...
