In a few days, John Romita Jr. will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest personal signing and drawing appearance. The legendary comic book artist is doing this to raise money for Heroes For Jordan and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada. The current record is 48 continuous hours and was actually set by John Romita Jr. himself back in 2002.

It's one of the rare times I've done inks for someone other than myself which were totally redeemed by Matt Kaufenberg's

awesome colors!
Great pencils : John Romita Jr.
Hacky inks : Charles Holbert Jr.
Awesome colors : Matt Kaufenberg
His art may not be for everybody but it is unique and he knocks it out more than anyone knows.
During the event he told the story of how he once had to do a 22 page Spider-Man book in 4 days and he's headed right back to work on Tuesday after this 50 hour sketch-a-thon .
I've attended a few signings that John has done at Comic Oasis and even got to work alongside him during a couple, he's a very laid back and friendly guy. I remember during one visit he pretty much drew a sketch for ever single person who showed up.
Well, looks like I may be in to do some time for this Fri and Sat evenings.
Derrick passed on my info to JRJR who replied "welcome", his wife Kathy, and to Donna and who answered my questions.
Been reading up on H4Jordan found out she is his niece and all that. Added them to my FB page. Was not aware JRJR did this back in 2002...I missed the news somehow, yet knew about the AMS #36 signing and one he did here in town.
This shoud be a fun and rewarding experience and looking forward to how it all comes down while I am there.
Gotta find me a decent enough purple shirt to wear now.
Sounds like everything is going well. That's good to hear (or read)!
Yep. I believe the first go at winning that title took place in Time Square if I'm recalling this story correctly... I was unaware of it as well until Kathy told the story to me and Derrick a few years back.
I don't know if the Amazing Spider-man #36 Comic Oasis signing took place before or after but either way it's amazing that guys hand hasn't fallen off.
I'm hoping someone out there takes decent picture cause I'm totally expecting to see him surrounded by coffee cups and hooked up to a Red Bull I.V. while he's busy signing and sketching.
I will take as much photos as I can while I'm there. Probably won't be as much people lined up during my times.
Hopefully there'll be a couple of artist volunteers to talk to there as much as the non-artists ones because I'm not really very talkative person and I don't JRJR falling asleep on my watch, heh!
Well, at least his wife and other family members and friends will all be there to cheer him on!
I'm really only posing it here now to help spread the word of a event that I really hope goes well.
The image has been seen in a few different articles and Matt and I did have a hand in making it so I think it's okay to post here for a short while.
